Martin Sennett Limited (MSL) provides services to meet the necessities of data requirement lists (DRLs), contract data requirement lists (CDRLs), and supplier data requirement lists (SDRLs). These types are similar in purpose. DRLs, CDRLs and SDRLs are most commonly required for equipment being delivered to the UK Ministry of Defence.

If you are involved in a project that uses DRLs, you will be required to produce a set of documents, conduct various design reviews, ensure that your equipment is tested and perform pre-delivery audits (which are different from normal quality assurance audits). The documents, including test results, must be produced in the correct sequence and, usually, to an agreed schedule. Your customer will review these submissions and provide comments, and it is common for these documents to pass through several draft/review cycles. Consequently, document management is an important aspect of DRLs.

There are considerable management requirements and responsibilities involved with ensuring that the appropriate documents and procedures are developed and deployed properly, in the correct order and in a timely manner.

MSL has wide experience with DRLs and we can help with both the management of the DRL process and with the generation of some of the documents — we can provide as much, or as little, support as you need, within agreed limits.

The nature of DRLs (CDRLs, SDRLs) means that, whist MSL can draft many documents for you (for you to review and for us to amend), some documents must be generated by you, with support and possible re-work by MSL. All documents must be approved by you before release to your client, but MSL can assist with this by undertaking a document-management role.

A list of some of the documents that you may be required to produce is provided as follows:

  • Acceptance test procedure

  • Approved changes implementation report

  • As-built record

  • Certificate of conformity

  • Change proposal

  • Configuration audit reports

  • Configuration identification document (baseline)

  • Configuration management plan

  • Contract review design

  • Declaration of design performance

  • E3 compliance plan

  • FRACAS report

  • First article inspection

MSL can provide a service to manage the DRL-related process and ensure that all parties comply with their responsibilities. We can also contribute to the process itself by generating some of the documents required. The degree of our involvement will be your choice.
